RE: RV Parking at the National Aquarium in Baltimore

We ended up getting a site at the KOA Capitol Campground. It wa 18 miles away, dropped off the 5ver and stayed ALL day at the Harbour. Did not get back until 1am. Parking a dually wasnt that easy either. Parking garages are not designed for the extra width, but we managed.

RE: Hershey, Pa to NY via Train

If you choose to see the Statue of Liberty on your trip don't forget to preorder your tickets online or its doubtful you will get to go into the statue. Been there done that!! By the way there is so much to do in the area, I would not travel to NYC on that trip, but make it a separate trip and spend the week visiting NYC attractions. I know you are right, but you know how it is with you wives!!! :) She wants to go because we are "so close" and the little one has always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty. I have almost got her convinced it should be another trip.

RE: Satellite TV at home and road

If someone has Satalite TV at home and they want to use it when camping, what is needed? Just an extra reciever on the account and another dish? Do the companies allow this? Directv will allow you to add an additional receiver for only $4.95 per month. We just leave it in the 5ver and I went down to the local TV store and bought a single LNB dish for $25. You can also just grab one of your receivers from home, but for me, the $60/year is worth not having to unhook everything and bring it. One thing you might find is, when you turn your receiver on after sittign for a while it will require a call to Directv to revive it. Just call 1800DIRECTV, punch in your home telephone number, then the extention, which I think is 721 and before the automated voice ends your signal is on again. Only takes 1 - 2 minutes. Unless you have to have HD, I would suggest just a single LNB dish rather then a triple. Triple is harder to point and you have nothing to gain except possible your LOCALS. Then you will need some sort of a mount for your dish. I tried numerous tripods and just recently bought a mount that most everyone on rv.net suggested. Haven't tested on a trip, but looks like it will be the ticket. It is called Bullseye Portable Dish Mount You will need a compass and a few lenghts of coax, you can never have too much. And a couple fo 7/16" wrenches for adjusting the dish. And if you are a Dish Network subscriber, disregard most of what I mentioned above :B

RE: Hershey, Pa to NY via Train

Have you considered going by bus. Most larger cities have bus service to manhatten. Not too expensive. We are open for suggestions. Never riden a train or a bus. We live a sheltered live here in South Hill, VA. :)

Hershey, Pa to NY via Train

Ok, now that we are hooked up for our trip to Hersey's Highmeadow campground, my wife wants to take our 7 year old to NY to see the Statue of Liberty. Instead of driving, thought about taking a train, have any of you done this before, where would you catch the train, how long, how much, etc. Thanks

RE: Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service

another question is, who honors the Good Sam ERS? Is it hard to find a garage when you are in the sticks?

RE: Formatting Vista Hard Drive?

this should do it. Fdisk and then boot to XP install disk. Why did you not like Vista? Go to bootdisk.com download a windows 98 se boot disk (yea I know you said XP but the 98 boot disk will Whack vista for you). Boot off the boot disk (or boot cd if your computer doesn't have a floppy like most new ones these day). Then run FDISK when it boots up. Fdisk will let you zap the old partition in a snap. THEN, boot off your windows XP cd. Make sure CD is selected as the first boot device in your BIOS so it will boot from the cd. Should be easy from that point. You can google this topic and find TONS of step by steps online. Cheers.

Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service

I receive offers from Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service all the time and just throw them away, but since we are planning our first longer then weekend excursion I was actually readying the last offer. Are yall using this service? Had good results, worth the money, only $89. Should I sign up?

RE: Campgrounds in Hershey, PA

thanks for the advice. what should we do when we get there. never been and dont really know much about Hershey. My wife has just always wanted to go. We will be there for 7 days. If you can get a site at Highmeadows, thats what I would do. I was just giving advice in case you couldnt get one. Luckly, I only live 5 miles from the park and go at least once a week just for the shows

RE: Campgrounds in Hershey, PA

We are staying at the HighMeadow now since they have sites. Is that the better campground? Check the KOA in Elizabethtown. It is closer to the park and more convienant to grocery stores. Also there is Conowaga on 743 which is about 6 miles to Hershey. I go by it everday going to work and there is always campers pulling in.

RE: Campgrounds in Hershey, PA

Well, I called last week to Hershey Highmeadow Campground and they said absolutley no sites available with full hook ups. The wife calls today becuase I was getting ready to reserve KOA in Jonestown. Now they say we have spots. So we are off Monday 7/21 - Sunday 7/27. Now, since we have never been there before, what do we need to know? Where do we need to go. Just the two of us and our 7 year old son.

RE: Campgrounds in Hershey, PA

Looks like we cannot stay there anyway, all booked up. There is a KOA in Jonestown. They have sites, anybody know anything about that CG? The main reason we did not go to Hershey Highmeadow is because the trains run all night long out there. Just thought you may want to know... Check the map of the campgrounds...

Campgrounds in Hershey, PA

We want to plan a trip to Hersey in July (if we can get sites) and want to know where to stay. Looking for a nice family campground close to Hersey. Thanks.
